When it comes to casting siblings, parents and kids, heck, even cousins in TV shows and movies, it can go two ways.
I’m here to recap some of those cases for you! Here are 11 times movie and TV casts visually demonstrated believable family ties, and 10 times they really didn’t.

If you saw They got togetheryou’ll probably agree that making Paul Rudd and Max Greenfield brothers was a stroke of genius!

But I’m sorry, Jennifer Aniston looks nothing like her “sisters” Reese Witherspoon and Christina Applegate in Friends.

I can believe that Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega are half-sisters in ScreamOf course.

But I was never convinced that Karyn Parsons (Hilary Banks) and Tatyana M. Ali (Ashley Banks) were related The prince of Bel-Air.

Something About Margot Robbie and Allison Janney as Mother and Daughter in Me Tonya just makes sense to me.

But you know what doesn’t make sense? Alexandra Daddario being Dwayne Johnson’s daughter in San Andreas.

Let’s be honest, casting Natalie Dormer as Diana Rigg’s granddaughter in game of thrones was a super smart decision.

So there is Hereditaryin which Alex Wolff looks nothing like his “parents” Toni Collette and Gabriel Byrne.

Kelsey Grammer and David Hyde Pierce played famous brothers in Millingwhich works perfectly, I think we can all agree.

But other than the two being ~incredibly hot~, why did Hollywood expect us to believe Chris Evans and Jessica Alba were siblings in The Fantastic Four?

When we met Deke’s parents in 2 broke girlsI remember thinking yes, Eric André could definitely be the offspring of Sheryl Lee Ralph and Jeff Garlin.

But even though I love the movie and wouldn’t change a thing, Emma Stone barely watches her parents, Patricia Clarkson and Stanley Tucci, in Easy.

I have to say that I think making Pamela Reed the mother of Amy Poehler in Parks and recreation was a great decision.

But might as well enjoy the movie Rail accidentwho considers Amy Schumer and Brie Larson to be sisters?!?!

David Wenham (Faramir) and Sean Bean (Boromir) of The Lord of the Rings the movie trilogy could legitimately be related, am I right?

On the other hand, Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer of two and a half men fame is NOT alike.

Another shout out Parks and recreation – making Ben Schwartz and Jenny Slate twins was honestly *chef’s kiss*.

I honestly think David Sutcliffe as Alexis Bledel’s father in Gilmore Girls really hits the spot.

But I’ll say it – NO member of the Dunphy family looks alike in modern family.

Let’s end on a positive note… Surrender to vast citybecause the casting of Susie Essman in the role of Ilana’s mother was MAGNIFICENT!!!
