The latest list of store closures includes 87 namesake Bed, Bath & Beyond stores, 50 Harmon pharmacies and several buybuy Baby stores.
WASHINGTON — Bed, Bath & Beyond is closing 87 more of its namesake stores as its financial struggle continues. The home goods chain is also closing its entire Harmon drugstore chain and five other buybuy Baby stores.
The latest round of shutdowns are in 32 states.
The homeware chain said in a statement to Axios Monday that the new closures expand its previous plan to close about 150 “low production” stores. This plan, announced in August, provided for layoffs that would reduce the chain’s workforce by 20%. It also lined up over $500 million in new funding.
By mid-January, it had released a list of more than 120 places of closure.
The company revealed last week that it had defaulted on its loans, stating in a title deposit that he can restructure his debt in bankruptcy court. He had previously warned that there was “substantial doubt” over his ability to continue.
