The long term Vanderpump Rules couple maintained a respectful attitude and united front amid their split and kept public commentary to a dignified minimum. Neither gave details of their divorce. Only after To M branch with co-star Rachel Leviss did this veneer crack.
And now, Katie is ready to share a bit more about the end of a relationship that lasted the whole course of Pump Rules. According Reality Blurb!during an appearance on The Viall fileshosted by The single person alum Nick Viall, Katie shared her feelings. “There was a point where I woke up a bit and things started to appear,” she said.
Katie remembers finally accepting his intuition that the relationship was over. “It’s like that voice inside me woke up and said, ‘You don’t want this, and you have to be honest with yourself that these are probably things that are going to be there forever. Is that the kind of person you want to be with, or do you deserve more?” [And] it just got stronger,” the Something About Her co-owner said. “I wasn’t happy and didn’t prioritize myself because I was prioritizing someone else…to the detriment of myself and my happiness.”
The mix of emotions that followed was very complex, and Katie still gets along with them two months later finalize the divorce. She explained: “Once I was honest with myself and said to myself, ‘No, I don’t want this’, I felt relief, and it was hard and sad for me. It was pain, sadness and relief,” she explained. “It was a lot at once.”
So why Katie ask for a divorce ? She quoted by Tom refusal to “prioritize myself”. VRP viewers will not be surprised by this admission. Tom’s friendship with the co-owner of his Schwartz & Sandy Tom Sandoval regularly eclipsed marriage. Frankly, Tom shone in the presence of his quirky friend, and Katie often seemed unfamiliar.
Katie said: “I felt like I came last to everyone in the room, his friends and the strangers, and he’s such a charismatic and lovely guy. Everyone loves him, but when it came to me, I didn’t feel like I was seen, heard, or emotionally or intellectually supported. I felt very alone most of the time,” she added.
To M disagree with “a lot of” by Katie perceptions. He accepted the decision at the time, but didn’t take it “well”.
But Katie defended his position by saying that there was long term problems. She said: “These are things that have frustrated me over the years, and when we tried to work through them, I felt like I was a little stuck, and I tried to justify… and then I got to the point where I’m just like, ‘I don’t think that’s ever going to change. I don’t think it will ever change.
After the separation, the two lived together in the house they shared. Katie credits this arrangement for allowing them to transition and defuse their feelings.
“When we broke up, we were still living together for five months, and it was kind of nice to have that time because we were able to kind of unravel, uncouple during that time and get used to not being together. even though we were together, Katie declared.
Katie took the news hard. She shared: “I try [to remain friendly], but I just feel like there’s been a lot of disrespect. When asked if this “disrespect” applied to hookup, Katie replied, “Yes, of course. But there is so much more to it.
