Mariah Carey performs her very first duet with her daughter Monroe at the Christmas pageant

Looks like it could run well in the family!

Mariah Carey has been taking center stage during the holidays for years, but this year it looks like she’s ready to start sharing it with her 11-year-old daughter Monroe.

The unbranded Christmas queen and her daughter looked stunning together in matching dresses when Mariah proudly presented her.

“She’s my little girl here,” she told the sold-out crowd at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on Friday. “Eleven years ago I received the greatest gift. You know what, I don’t have a birthday, but the day of delivery was the greatest gift I ever had when I had my twins, Roc and Roe.”

She then shared that the duo will be performing the classic Christmas anthem “Away in a Manger” together: “This is our first duet.” She also said it was their first time performing together, but they had been “working on this one for a minute.”

Monroe didn’t try to join in when her mother started with her signature whistles, but they shared a whistle moment around the middle of the room. Could Monroe have inherited her mother’s famous five-octave range? Whether she did or not, she had a beautiful tone that worked beautifully side-by-side with her famous mother.

Naturally, the crowds in attendance went wild for the gorgeous mother-daughter couple, while videos shared by fans allowed that love to spill over onto social media.

Her first gig since the COVID-19 pandemic, Mariah called it a dress rehearsal and tryout, per Billboard. A four-show tour, Mariah was scheduled to perform twice in Toronto, then twice at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

This all leads up to the CBS premiere of “Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas to All” on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 8 p.m. ET, and maybe even a Monroe Cannon’s great pipes for at least one beautifully special moment.
