Last October, WILL guitarist Eric Peterson confirmed at MetalMasterKingdom.com that the group plans to start work on the follow-up to the 2020s “Titans of Creation” album for release in 2023. “We actually have a ballad that we wrote,” he revealed. “We were going to put it on the last record. We actually recorded some things, and it just wasn’t ready. We would listen to him, we would say ‘Nah…’ There were a lot of elements that weren’t there; we kind of threw together. But this time I think we have something really cool.”

As for the sound of the ballad, Eric said, “It looks like something WILL would do. The melodies in it are really cool. I’m not trying to say we’re going for a ballad. We’re going to deliver one of those sorts of songs again; we haven’t done this for a while, since [2012’s] “Dark Roots of the Earth” [album]. And then there’s a lot of stuff lying around that I’ve recorded over the years that I haven’t put any drums on yet. So I hope I’ll jam with it [TESTAMENT drummer Dave] Lombardo soon and we’ll put some killer shit together.”

In September, WILL leader chuck billy said in Canada The voice of metal on the progress of the writing sessions for the group’s next album: “October 15 is the last concert of [the summer/fall 2022 leg of ‘The Bay Strikes Back Tour’ with EXODUS, and DEATH ANGEL]then we go to work [on new material] until Christmas, then just after New Years, we’ll be back. I know [guitarists] Eric and alexander [Skolnick] worked and jammed together, and I heard an epic song was created. I haven’t heard it yet, but I heard it was epic. That’s all they say – “it’s epic”. I’m, like, ‘Okay.’ That’s the word they throw at me. We will see.”

As for the musical direction of the new WILL songs, Mandrel said, “I think WILL will always remain in the vein of WILL and not following trends or following what’s trendy today. Even though there’s a lot of great new bands that I like and I’m like, ‘Man, this is awesome. I really like.’ But we cannot change; we kinda want to stay WILL. I hear it from the fans when you talk to them. They always say, ‘Thank you for being who you have been for so long.’ So we just have to keep it going.”

In September, WILL recruited drummer Chris Dovas (SEVEN ARROWS) to play the first six dates of the summer/autumn stage of “The Bay Strikes Back”. He was replacing Lombardowho was unable to do the concerts due to a scheduling conflict with the UNFAVORABLE.

An original member of thrash metal legends KILLER, Lombardo was the guest drummer on WILL1999 studio album “The meeting”which also marked the first time the band worked with an up-and-coming British producer/engineer Andy Snape.

Lombardo joined WILL in February 2022 following the departure of Gene Hoglan.

WILL released a “Titans of Creation” video album in september via Nuclear explosion. The limited edition collection includes performance videos of all tracks on the disc. The footage was compiled on a sound stage in San Francisco and was edited into music video style clips which were made available on Blu-ray accompanying the CD along with bonus photos and liner notes as well as a button and a sticker in a long box. Faithful to the record, the performances show Gene Hoglan behind the kit. This version is limited to 6,500 copies worldwide.

“Titans of Creation” was produced by bowl and peterson while Juan Urteaga of Trident Studios handled co-production, recording and engineering. Andy Snape was responsible for mixing and mastering the album. Office Elie stepped up once again to create a new masterpiece of cover art for this release.
